Biarritz, is the Monte Carlo of the Atlantic coast and playground for the monarchs. Nestled in the serene Bay of Biscay, Biarritz is also the surfing capital of Europe. The visuals are spectacular, waves pounding the vast coast and warm temperatures year-round make this a very comfortable city indeed.
During the Middle Ages Biarritz was a tiny fishing village and home to whalers. By 1854, it was transformed with arrival of Empress Eugenie and Napoleon III who assumed control of the area. Soon, all the royalty of Europe followed and Biarritz became" the queen of beaches and the beach of kings".
Today, the town retains its international feel, with a variety of night life, restaurants, and sporting activities. International students and travelers love Biarritz for its excitment by night and relaxing days at any of its three beautiful beaches.
