Learn Spanish in Marbella
Marbella, or "beautiful sea", named for its deep-blue seas is the undisputed gem of the Costa del Sol. Fifty years ago, this small Spanish fishing village would have never guessed that it would one day be home to tree-lined avenues and all the glitz and glimmer of Mediterranean dreams. Marbella's panoramic views are stunning, with beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see. Life is just more relaxing here, perhaps the white sands sooth away the day to day hustle of modern life.

Marbella is divided into halves. Andalucia in the old town is home to the charming white villages with twisted streets forming a tight maze. Day and night give-way to the Plaza de los Naranjos, the geographical centre of Marbella. The 15th century square was name for the orange trees dotted throughout its Moorish styled corregidors. Marbella is romantic too, the narrow streets invite encounters and inspire the senses with the soft scents of flowers decorating the many balconies overhead. The whole square is filled with pulsating bars and restaurants.

There are many historical points of interests in Marbella, some of which date back to ancient Rome. The settlement of Villa Romana in Rio Verde, the Roman Thermal Spas are from 3rd century. In Vega del Mar there is a 4th century Basilica from the earliest epoch of Christinism. More attractions are the ruins of 9th century Moorish fortress, the 16th century church Iglesia de la Encarnacion and the Bazan Palace from the same epoch. The Museum of Contemporary Spanish Engravings, is home to some of the most important artistic works in all of Spain including, Picasso, Dali, Miro and Tapies.

Most interesting among the many beautiful parks of Marbella is perhaps the "rollo de la Ripresa" which houses the Bonsai-Museum, the most important collection of those "micro-trees" in all Europe. The Park of Alameda is a botanical garden with many very rare plants. In Parque de la Constitucion you'll find the typical Mediterranean flora, with alternating buildings of Moorish style. During summer outdoor concerts and ballet performances are a must for everyone.
