Food and drink for Bolivia
Bolivia's food is surprisingly good and very distinctive. Like most dishes in South America, meat is the main course accompanied by rice, potatoes, and shredded lettuce.

Main dishes
Empanada Saltena is a mixture of diced meat, chicken, chives, raisins, diced potatoes, hot sauce and peppers baked in dough - and it's every bit as good as it sounds! Lomo Montado is a fried tenderloin steak with two fried eggs on top, rice and fried banana. Picante de Pollo is a southern fried chicken, fried potatoes, rice, and salad with hot peppers. Chuno is a naturally freeze -dried potato used to make a variety of soups called Chairo. Lechon Al Homo is a young roast pig served with sweet potato and fried Plantains. If you are visiting the country during the holidays, ask for the "Picana", a Christmas dish made with many meats, vegetables, and rice

Drinks
Bolivian beer is one of the best you'll find in South America. Look for the brand called Pacena.
