Food and drink for Ecuador 

Typical dishes
Le Ceviche is the most popular dish in Ecuador. It is made up of marinated fish, shrimp, or lobster in lemon juice, with a side dish of popcorn and sliced onions. Fish is the main diet of many costal regions and prawns are also very popular. The grilled meats are also exceptional.

Most dishes are served with side garnishes of rice or salad. Lapingachos are pancakes with mashed potato and cheese. These dishes are served in a variety of different ways, some with just fruit or vegetables. La Guinua is Incas soup, high in protein. El Sanconcho is a soup made from Yucca, corn, banana, peas, rice and oil or water.

Drinks
Beer is a popular drink and accompanies well any of the popular dishes. A popular brand of beer is called LA Chicha, which has traditional consumption during indian feasts. Coca and local mineral water also popular. Wine is expensive and mostly imported. There are many refreshing fruit drinks, one that deserves special attention is Naranjilla, with a unique citrus and peach flavored taste. The best drink, and one you can not miss is Canelazo made from sugar cane, alcohol, fruit juice, and cinnamon.
