Q: What kinds of people take the course?
A: Our students generally range in age from 18 to 65 years old.
With an average age between 20 and 30 years. They
are university and college students,
professionals, executives and independent travelers.

Q: What is the minimum age to participate?
A: 18, some programs allow 16, 17 year olds.

Q: Does the price include airfare? If not, how do I book a flight?
A: No the prices do not include airfare. Before
arrival students will have to arrange all flight and
visa requirements within their own country.

Q: When booking flights, when should I plan to arrive and depart?
A: All our programs start on the Monday morning so
plan to arrive on the Sunday before your start date.
Your Sunday evening accommodation is included in the
price. When departing, all our programs finish on the
Friday, however you do not have to leave the
accommodation until noon on the following Saturday. So
plan to fly out on the last Saturday of your stay.

Q: Are there any shot requirements?
A: You should consult with your doctor before taking any foreign trip to make sure you are up to date on your regular vaccinations. You probably won't need any special vaccinations unless traveling in very remote areas.

Q: Prices are listed in which currency?
A: All prices are listed in US dollars.

Q: I have found a cheaper airline ticket, but I will arrive outside the start dates?
A: With prior arrangement this will not be a problem.
If you arrive a day late, we can reschedule your first
lesson. If you arrive a few days early, we can
arrange one or two additional night’s accommodation
before or after your program.

Q: If I need a visa, do you arrange this for me?
A: Visas and passports are the responsibility of the
student. Most students will need a basic tourist visa to participate. We recommend www.g3visas.com for students who
require visas or permits.

Q: Do you recommend travel and medical insurance?
A: Yes, First Step World strongly recommends that all
our students take out medical travel insurance before
leaving the country. We offer great valued plans (See homepage

university credit. We have several options for obtaining
credit. Students should visit our University Credit pages to learn
about the variety of options for applying.

better to stay more weeks and not study too many hours
per day. Most students can expect to be speaking with
moderate fluency in 3-6 months depending on the
individual.

Q: How can I pay?
A: You can by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Paypal). You can also pay by wire transfer.

Q: How should I take money on the program?
A: Most students use debit/ATM card. There are many

not have a debit/ATM card, you can also take
traveler's checks and credit cards. It's best to
travel with both.

Q: What kind of clothes should I bring?
A: It depends on which city you choose and what part of
the year you're expecting to stay. Rio de Janeiro is a
tropical climate with warm winters and warmer summers.
Berlin is seasonal with cooler winters, hot summers,
and mild falls and springs. Pack cool, cotton clothing for the warmer months (light weight shirts, khakis, skirts, sandals).
Students planning to travel to the interior should bring
heavy weight clothes.

Q: When should I plan to arrive in the country and how do I get to the school?
A: Plan to arrive on the Sunday before your first class
(Monday). Your Sunday night's accommodation is included in the price. A can have a program representative waiting at the airport to meet you and take you to your accommodation.

Q: Can I change my host family if I am not happy with them?

A: Yes. Just indicate your travel companion on the enrollment form and we will find a family willing to accommodate you.
