Students can apply for university credit for all of our programs. It is recommended that each student check with their academic institution to verify policies on issuing or transferring language credit. We recommend the following options.
Options
A. Pre-approved from your College or University:
Start with your academic institution. Find out what their policy is on receiving academic credit for course work completed overseas. In most cases you can receive academic credit for participation in our language programs. You should meet with faculty from your institutions Foreign Language Department or Study Abroad office. You might be asked to provide a course syllabus or course description. Let us know your institutions requirements and we'll assist you with the necessary documentation.
B. Credit through Seattle Central Community College
Students may earn 5 quarterly credits or 3.3 semester credits for 101, 102 or 103 levels of Spanish, French, German, and Italian through any of our programs at First Step World. There is no minimum amount of study time required.
"Credit-by-Examination provides a special opportunity for students with extensive life experiences to receive college credit for that knowledge. Seattle Central recognizes the rich and varied ways individuals learn throughout their lives and provides students the opportunity to demonstrate academic competency by passing a course equivalency examination. "
